The Editorial Board of Urhobo Vanguard has named Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, as its ‘Urhobo Person of the Year 2019’.
Omo-Agege, a brilliant lawyer, courageous public administrator and erudite lawmaker, is the first Urhobo indigene to occupy a national elective constitutional office as high as the office of the Deputy Senate President.
Justifying the choice of Senator Omo-Agege, the paper extolled the principled political leadership of the nation’s number 6 citizen in order of national protocol.
“Today, Urhobo is united across party lines in acknowledging Omo-Agege as the best political discovery from Delta State. He holds the highest (elective) political office by any Urhobo man today, and indeed in the whole of South-South.”
“He deserves to be crowned as Urhobo Person of the Year,” the paper stated.
